Ben got to go out with his friends yesterday, for the first time in nine months. So happy I could cry - he's finally getting his life back!

Ben's FINAL chemo treatment is tomorrow! :D

Good news! The pathology results came back from Ben's tumor - they got it all, and they found no living cancer cells within it. He still has to go through chemo for the next few months, but this is a GOOD DAY!

The first ten hours of Ben's surgery have been a success - the tumour is out clean, the fibula's transplanted, and the nerve in his arm is saved. Three more hours to attach the plates and blood vessels, and sew everything back up, and it'll all be over. Thank God ( Read more... )

Ben's going to be having surgery soon! It's a 12+ hours long procedure, in which 80% of his humerus will be removed and replaced with one of his fibulas. Multiple plates, pins, and screws will be used to hold him together, and there is a danger of nerve damage in his right hand. Ben's gotten very sick since his last chemo treatment, and is in the hospital again. I'm not really sure what it all means, but he's in isolation, his neutrophil level is zero, and his feet are red and swollen.

Ben is in the hospital again, with a fever. At this rate, he won't be able to start his second round of chemo on schedule.

I did some house sitting for Rob and Robin (my step-brother and step-sister-in-law) this weekend, and took care of their dog, Ranger, and two cats, Nikita and Bill; had a lot of fun with the pets, and really enjoyed having some time to myself. The results of my nephew Ben's multiple biopsies have come back, and show that the cancer has not spread - thank God! He started chemo this week, and is doing as well as can be expected.
